Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens Review
I used this lens with Canon 500D and didn't notice a huge difference in picture quality in comparison with the kit lens, therefore I've returned 15-85mm and bought a prime 50mm f/1.4. It was a good swap. This is my first review, so don't be too harsh in comments below :) Thanks for watching

The Stars of Mercator - time lapse of the night sky above La Palma
Time lapse movie showing the night sky and the scenes before and after an observing night at the Mercator telescope ( www.mercator.iac.es ) situated on the island of La Palma among several other astronomical instruments of the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos ( www.iac.es ). Some interesting things to be noticed: -Geosynchronous satellites visible as "standing still stars" in front of the "rotating background" of real stars, disappearing one-by-one starting from the bottom left corner as entering Earth's shadow at 01:15 (only in 1080p size). -Full lunar halo at 01:33 - see www.atoptics.co.uk . -Slightly visible zodiacal light (see en.wikipedia.org ) at 01:04 (it is only slightly visible because of the strong moonlight, which lights up several night-time scenes later too). -Frequently seen other telescopes are the robotic Liverpool telescope ( www.iac.es ) and the Isac Newton Telescope ( www.iac.es ). -Venus (it is a planet indeed, but looks like a very bright star) can be seen setting above the horizon at 00:48 and 01:00 (Mercury is also visible to the lower right at 01:02). -Several satellites, but also some meteors can be seen (eg, at 02:35). -Shadow cast by the mountain at sunrise can be seen on the clouds at 03:43. -The last morning dawn scene was shot from the Roque de los Muchachos, which is the highest point of La Palma, 2423 m ASL. Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Video Review
www.learningdslrvideo.com Some of the key points: * You can't zoom in and out with this lens while shooting video because of the aperture stops that you pass through * The IS works amazingly well, almost as good as my camcorder. * It is much heavier than my 50mm prime. * I think I need an ND filter sooner outside than I do with the 50mm prime. * It makes shooting video more complex, but shooting pictures is pretty fun. * Is it a good travel lens if it is some much heavier than the 50mm prime?

Canon 500D EF-s 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS vs EF-s 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM Focusing Speed
The 17-55 is often pitted against the 18-55 kit lens on forums but there arten't that many videos of the two side by side. This video was something i slapped together for the POTN forum when someone asked about focusing speed. I mostly use my 7D these days but with the 500D if you can't upgrade quick USM lenses solves some of the shortcomings of the AF sensor on the Rebel cameras.

Решил опробовать объектив CANON EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM с поляризационным фильтром Nikon 77mm Circular Polarizer II Thin Ring Multi-Coated Glass Filter. В принципе, в своей ценовой категории, объектив неплохо справляется с поставленными задачами по видеосъёмке, а фильтр делает картинку бархатной, удаляя контраст в светах и и солнечные блики на листве и воде. У объектива красивое боке и хорошая грип, позволяющие придавать картинке художественность. Came out on a couple of hours in the woods near Sochi Matsesta. Decided to test the lens CANON EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM with a polarizing filter Nikon 77mm Circular Polarizer II Thin Ring Multi-Coated Glass Filter. In principle, in its price range, the lens copes with the tasks of filming, and the filter makes the picture a velvety, removing the contrast in the highlights and solar flares and on the foliage and water. In a beautiful bokeh lens and a good grip, allow you to attach a picture artistry.
