A few shots of Chester to test the new Canon PowerShot A1200 video option. The weather wasn't ideal for a test but you get a general idea of the image quality. It's probably best to use a tripod for panning shots as there's a lot of camera shake but otherwise the quality is quite good for a camera costing under £100.

Brian From Technocliq Unboxing of the Canon A1200 The Canon PowerShot A1200 is based around a 12.1-megapixel, 1/2.3"-type CCD image sensor coupled to a 4x optical zoom lens that offers focal lengths ranging from a useful 28mm wide angle to a moderate 112mm telephoto. Maximum aperture varies from f/2.8 to f/5.9 across the zoom range. The Canon A1200 includes an optical viewfinder, an increasingly rare but useful feature in bright light or when batteries are running low. The A1200's 2.7-inch LCD monitor has a resolution of 230000 dots (~76800 pixels, with three dots per pixel). www.technocliq.com http The Canon A1200's sensor allows sensitivities ranging from ISO 80 to ISO 1600 equivalents. So after using this for over a week I have decided to keep it. This is a solid Device both as a Picture still Camera and as a 720p camcorder. For the price point of $98.99+ tax, you really can't go wrong with it. Hope you enjoyed the video btw: this video was shot with my Epic 4g Touch 4g, at 1080p

This is a good camera for beginners. It only downside is that it lacks the image stabilization and it is not the best in low light settings... But people for years have been taking great pictures without the image stabilization. I've had this camera for 8 months now. It's a great camera for daylight; not for low lights. Canon Powershot A1200 gets soaked with a fall in the lake
After falling in the lake last week, water was dripping not only from me but also from my camera when I removed it from my pants pocket. Even though the camera was turned off, the camera was displaying the initial setup screen. My natural instinct was to try and turn it off by pressing the power button (should not have done I guess), the lens extended and a red (error?) indicator light came on. The manual only mentions Green and Orange indicator lights, I assume they don't expect water soakings :-) I then tried to turn it back off but the power button was non responsive. I assume it was a complete short circuit between the batteries and the camera's circuits with all the water in it, but I thought it was still worth a recovery attempt so I took the batteries and SD card out of the camera (lens stayed extended) and set the camera in the vehicle. When I got home, I threw a bath towel in the dryer to warm it up, then wrapped the camera in it (lens still extended) and put the whole thing outside in my vehicle. My vehicle sits in the sun all day so I figured I'd use it as a low temp oven and the towel would help absorb any moisture. Wednesday night after sunset, I brought the camera indoors. The lens had dried water spots on it and the LCD screen was fogged about 1/2 inch all around the edges with condensation, obviously still pretty wet. I took the camera inside where it sat on my desk till Saturday morning. The air conditioning helped dry it out and by Saturday morning the <b>...</b>
