  • What class of memory card should i use with my t2i/60d? - DSLR FILM NOOB

www.dslrfilmnoob.com I often get questions about memory cards. Well i've already covered Compact flash cards so lets take a look at SDHC cards. The canon t2i data rate is ruffly 45Mbits per second which is about 5.89Mbytes per second. Since class 4 cards are only designed to handle 4Mbytes a second they are probably not a good choice. Class 6 cards can handle 6Mbytes per second which is just enough to handle the video footage coming from your t2i However the price for Class 10 cards has dropped to the point that there isn't a good reason to risk using Class 6 cards. Class 10 cards can handle 10Mbytes a second which gives you plenty of head room for video recording. Plus if you plan to use the Magic lantern hack you might end up wanting to record at an even higher bit rate. So for a price difference of about $3 its worth it to spend a little extra and pick up a class 10 card. Sandisk a has the highest price Class 10 Cards on the market I would try one of the other brands like Transcend, ADATA, or PNY. 16GB Transcend card for $28: www.amazon.com Equipment used in this video: Canon 7d Canon 35mm f1.4 Zoom h1 sennheiser g2 wireless mic CPM film tools Rig Lilliput hdmi monitor

  • Does the SD Card Brand Matter?

twitter.com - facebook.com - chris.pirillo.com - Over on Lockergnome, BMM2010 asked "Does a class and make (manufacturer) of an SD/micro SD card really make a difference?" The short answer is that yes - it does. I have always believed that you get what you pay for. If you think you're getting an amazing deal, you may end up with junk that will fail on you. Most of the time, you tend to get more bang for your buck. The class of an SD card determines how fast it is. A class 2 card, therefore, should not get the speeds of one that is a class 10... so don't believe the crap advertising telling you otherwise. chris.pirillo.com

  • Early 2011 Macbook Pro will not read Sandisk Extreme Class 10 16gb SD Card

*UPDATE 28th June 2011* - Seems like the problem has been resolved with the new 10.6.8 update. It can take awhile, at least 10 seconds at times, for the card to be detected, but at least it now works! Thanks to Houdini528 for highlighting it! If you're still having problems please share so others are aware. Cheers! ----------------------------- I have this problem which is quite frustrating. I recently purchased a 15 inch 2011 MBP 2.2ghz i7 and everything's great, except for that I'd also recently bought a Sandisk 16gb Extreme SDHC Class 10 SD Card, and it can't seem to be read on the new laptop!!! It works through an external reader, it also works on older versions of MBPs and iMacs. At times, for some reason, it works on the new laptop too! I understand that the new SD Card Readers for the 2011 MBPs are wired through PCIE, unlike the older models which are wired through a USB port on the chipset...could this be affecting the problem? Apple please resolve this soon, Sandisk won't (and shouldn't) take back the card because there's nothing wrong with it. *I don't have a video here, but the card also faces the same problem on 2 other early 2011 MBPs I've tested them on, so I doubt it's just my laptop that's acting up.
