The zoom is very stiff and sticks when you first use it so struggled a bit with it. Also I mention that the focus ring doesn't rotate when you auto-focus but have since found that it does. The lens filter is a Hoya UV mulitcoated.

Tamron launched the SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) MACRO, a lightweight, high-performance and fast tele-zoom lens designed for DSLR cameras with 35mm full-size image sensors. The Canon mount is scheduled for spring delivery. The shipment schedule for Nikon, Pentax and Sony will be announced at a later date. The new SP AF70-200mm Di LD (IF) MACRO (Model AA001) is an F/2.8 fast tele-zoom designed for DSLRs with 35mm full-size image sensors, inheriting product concept of the existing SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di (Model A09) that is highly acclaimed as a compact and fast standard zoom lens enabling photographers to enjoy high cost performance characteristics. In its groundbreaking review Dpreview recognized it as a excellent achievement. Its main strengths were - according to Dpreview - the weight and compactness. What would Dpreview say now? Tamron has come with the updated version of the old 18-250 mm. The new model is considerably lighter, smaller and employs faster autofocus motor. We have yet to wait for Dpreview`s opinion about it. Aber wie das eben so ist, erst im Vergleich offenbart sich der Unterschied. Seit einiger Zeit bietet Sigma ein ähnliches Objektiv an. Ich habe es bestellt und verglichen, da ich mit einigen Details beim Tamron nicht glücklich war. Das waren vor allem der laute und langsame Autofokus sowie das Herausrutschen der Objektives, wenn man es einmal nicht wieder zusammengefahren verriegelte, Besitzer wissen was ich meine.Der Ultraschallmotor ist dem "normalen Antrieb" des Tamron deutlich überlegen, leiser und vor allem schneller. Die geringfügig gröÃere Brennweite ist nach meinem Test nur minimal spürbar und praktisch kein Kaufargument.
